Health and Wellbeing: Emotions

Over the last few weeks we have been learning about how to talk about our emotions and feelings in Health and Wellbeing. We had to pick a card and read the card which either had an emotion or a feeling on it e.g. happy or angry so we had to say when we last felt that emotion/feeling. We also had to make a boat for our wall display and write on it – how we are feeling about next year.

Lunchtime Club: Teambuilding

Over the past two weeks we have been taking part in a whole school lunchtime club focusing on teambuilding. In the second week we played a game where we were split into three teams and a hoop was placed in front of us. One suit from a pack of cards was placed around the edge of it. We had to run up and turn over a card in order of the ace, 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on. Next we played a game where we had to use our shoes to build the highest tower. The biggest one was 54cm tall!

Mental Maths

Recently for mental maths we have been using an inflatable beach ball with times tables on it to practise our tables and the same thing but in card form. With the beach ball we throw it to another player and they catch it with two hands and you have to answer whatever times table is closest to your left thumb. With the times table cards you evenly hand out the cards to all of the players. The player with the start card goes first and asks their times table question and the other players need to see if they have the answer. If you have the answer you read out the next times table question that is below it and then put that card away. You keep doing this until you get to the end card (the person with the end card loses). Along with our big Maths Beat That, these games are helping develop our mental ability.
