Art and Design

In art and design recently we were looking at visual elements, such as: line, shape, colour and texture. We were inspired by David Hockney and Moore, and produced a coloured picture of a chicken. We used oil pastels and water paint to make a background.

Piping Success for Jess Currie

Leading on from the Regionals piping completion Jess went up North to Carluke to compete in the National piping Competition.
She was up against every piper in Scotland and came back with a 4th place – only 2 points away from 3rd place!
The format of the day was a talk from Royal Society for Scotland, and then she went into a room with two judges and played her tunes. She was the last to play in her category, and listening to everyone else, the standard was high!
At the end the results were given to each region and Dumfries and Galloway won the poetry section and an award for being the most talented region.
We are so proud of Jess and her achievement! Well done Jess!

Skill session 10 – Baking

On skill session 10 we got to bake cupcakes. Before we did anything we had to wash our hands, then one group at a time went to put ingredients in and mixed it with a spoon then we got the cupcake cases and put the mixture in them. They had to bake for 20-30 minutes and after lunch we got to decorate and we got to choose sprinkles or chocolate icing. It was a great activity.
