On Saturday 25th November, the Barbour Hall Committee organised a community get together to bring in the festive season. The gathering proved to be a great success with nearly 80 local people of all ages attending.
Those in attendance were treated to festive music, refreshments and snacks and were able to purchase marvellous baking and home-made preserves donated by kind locals. In addition, children had their own Christmas entertainment table.
The event finished with a raffle whose many prizes once again highlighted the depth of generosity of Glencaple folk.
As well as bringing in the festive season as a community, the purpose of the get together was to highlight plans to modernise the Barbour Hall and to increase its use by the local community. The audience were asked (by Post It) to provide ideas about the future use of the hall.
The response to this exercise was fascinating and included, among others, the following:
Film Nights
Meeting place for elderly
Badminton/indoor bowling club
Coffee Mornings
Youth Club
Dances
Christmas/New Year party
More use of it as a facility to hire out
There will be a Community Meeting in the new year to discuss these matters and to ensure everyone is involved in shaping the future of our wonderful amenity.
Details will be posted on this website and elsewhere in the community.
Thank you for supporting this lovely event and wishing you all the best of the season!
