Can anyone help Peter John Mclean Roberts? He is looking for some Caerlaverockans who have local knowledge, and has been in touch to ask the following question:

“On 1891 Scotland Census my great grandfather James Robb, schoolteacher & registrar, is shown as living at Bakehouse, Wellington Street, Glencaple, with his family. I was wondering if any of the local community knows which house and number Wellington Street it was, and if it is still there to-day?”

He adds, ‘Also of local interest, through my genealogy research, I have discovered that my second great aunt Georgina Rawline, nee Hunter, and her husband John Rawline were the landlady and landlord, respectively of the Nith Inn as shown on 1881 Scotland Census.’

You may recall John’s previous History article about his grandfather, Capt John Robb back in February 2016.
