William Baxter, now living in Indonesia, responded to one of our Facebook posts featuring an otter at WWT Caerlaverock. He told us that he has ‘a bit of special interest in Eastpark, I built the original banks and ponds in 1970/71 and have good memories of the whole operation’!
He would love to get back in touch with Colin Campbell, who was the manager of Eastpark Can anyone help – does anyone know how to put William in touch with Colin? William went on to explain that he is now ‘living in Indonesia and find your articles very interesting, I do not have any photos of my time there and would like to get in touch with Colin Campbell who was manager at that time.’ ‘I’m sure Colin took some photos when we were doing the earth moving. We carried out a small part building banks on the approach to the tower at the end of the road going south in 1970.’ ‘I can remember saying to Peter Scott on hearing a cuckoo that they were far more numerous than before. He gave me a lengthy explanation about how adaptable they were, he was like that with no heirs or graces and very down to earth.’ ‘My father had a small earth moving business before me and he carried out much work for the Norfolk Estate, sea defense and drainage so I was working there from around 1957 and have seen the changes.
