It’s a real bird’s eye view, made by our very own fabulous, local aerial photographer SkyWorks Aerial Media, and introduced by Adam Murphy, our Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve Reserve Officer.
Welcome to Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve, managed by Scottish Natural Heritage. Where mudflats stretch away under wide skies, shifting with each tide. Along the shore, plants adapted to stand the wash of sea water build a fringe of saltmarsh. Summer flowers and glasswort contrast with the blue and grey tones of the Nith Estuary National Scenic Area. Boardwalks will take you through reed beds right to the edge of the merse and a bird hide that overlooks the merse where thousands of wintering wildfowl and wading birds find dry land refuge during high tide. Caerlaverock NNR, in the heart of Caerlaverock Estate, is a place of constant change and part of an ongoing international conservation success story….
