Minister-picHi!

My name is David Logan, and I am the Minister of Carelaverock Parish and Minister of St Mary’s Greyfriars’, Dumfries.

I am very interested in rural ministry and I truly believe that it is important that rural churches are not just seen as an “add on” to a larger church. The rural church is rooted in the community that it serves and, it is vital that it is there for people of faith and no faith. The rural church is a touching place where in times of celebration or tragedy local people have somewhere to go to share their feelings. Caerlaverock Church is that place in our parish.

I was invited to light the beacon at Glencaple in celebration of the Queen’s recent 90th birthday. I was delighted to do so –an example of Church and Community coming together. As part of my commitment to our community, I intend raising my concerns about the delay in payment or part payment of C.A.P. payments to local farmers with our local MSP.

Although the Manse (church house), is no longer in the parish, you will find me in the café at Glencaple most Wednesdays from 10:00/12:00. You don’t have to be a member of the church to speak to me and, if you are really lucky I’ll by you a tea or coffee!

You will often catch me at the Mart in Dumfries as well. If you want to have a word with me please do not hesitate to give me a call on 07793542411.

Soon, I will be taking my first baptism at Caerlaverock and I already have a booking for a wedding in April 2017!  If you are planning a similar event, please get in touch! Soon you will be able to find us on Facebook too.

In the Autumn edition, I’ll tell you more about our plans for our the Harvest Festival and also our Christmas events and services.

Best wishes

Dave Logan (Reverend)
