Matters arising from last meeting on 30th August 2017
Fibre Broadband
There is still no fibre broadband at Blackshaw. Dave Buoy has persevered in getting his fibre broadband sorted out. He has very kindly said if there are people that would like to get in touch with him he would email Openreach and try and get things moving for them too.
Green waste dump
Ian Brown hasn’t been around to level off yet. He is going to go round with a tractor when he can to do it.
Newsletter
Special thanks to Hilary Roberts for producing the newsletter. She’s doing an excellent job!
Treasurers Report
In the bank at the moment is £1590.60. Christmas hampers will need to be purchased shortly.
Police Report
No incidents to report.
There is a free service available from the Police to come out and have a look round your property and offer advice about keeping your home safe and secure. You can drop them an email at nithsdalecpt@scotland.pnn.police.uk to arrange an appointment.
Crime prevention – people are working in groups at this time of year for thefts. With people having more money on their person at this time of year for Christmas shopping, please make sure you know exactly where you purse/wallet is, and don’t hold onto too much cash at one time.
Any suspicious activity dial 101.
Caerlaverock Primary School
Kelly has no children at the school now so has stepped down as chair on the committee. Jackie Gemmel is the new chair but unfortunately couldn’t make it tonight. Kelly did mention the current enrol at the school is 24 with 3 going out next year. They are having a Christmas night which is going to be held at the Barbour Hall as it was so popular last year. Refreshments will be available at the school.
Any other business
David Gilbert mentioned the bins at Castle Corner are full to the brim and haven’t been emptied in a while. Doug is going to contact DG First. He also mentioned about seeing signs in other villages about having a defib machine in their area. A good idea for similar signs for both Glencaple & Bankend?
Joan Houlison asked if there was anything that could be done regarding the motorhomes at the Quay End. One night she counted 17 and with the new Bistro opening she is concerned about parking for both businesses as they won’t survive if no one can get parked – they could just drive off. She thinks that the motorhomes seldom use the facilities here.
Doug mentioned about a possible compromise of say max 6 motorhomes with overflow parking spaces at Castle Corner or possibly the Barbour Hall?
David Buoy asked council members if there is anything they can do with Taxis as they don’t like coming out of town. Unfortunately the council can’t do anything about it as they are privately owned.
The 40mph speed limit in Kelton to Kelton Bank has been rejected through government guidelines. The area committee doesn’t go along with the decision, but it has been sent back to try and do something with it.
Sue Greig mentioned about the signs that were put up at Keltonbank about the flood, have made a difference.
Kelly Green wanted to mention about the Senior Citizens meal at Hutton Hall on Tuesday night and wanted to apologise if she missed anyone.
May Currie asked the Councillors if anything can be done about the parking on Wellington Street. Parking is terrible and there is a bit of grass which has been churned up with people parking on it. Can it be removed and used for parking as there now a lot of cars?
Meeting Closed
Please note that these minutes are drafts, and are subject to acceptance at the next meeting.
