On the 21st of March during our IDL When we came to building the bridges we all planned what we were going to use to build them and drew our designs of what the bridge would look like. Then we got on to building the bridges and there was a varied amount of beam bridges and suspension bridges. Only one couldn’t hold the weight because of their entry and exit ramps. We all had fun and worked as a whole school to help one another, listening to each other’s ideas. We were set the task of making a shelter that could hold 1kg and withstand wind from a hair dryer and with stand 200ml of water being poured on top of it. We made the shelters out of wood and any other things we could find. Some of our shelters failed the water and the hair dryer test, but one of the shelters passed all of them. Niamh, Georgie and Joshua’s shelter won but the others got a prize at the end. By Kaelyn P7 and Mirran P6
CPS Scoop – building challenges
[interdisciplinary learning] week we were given the task of researching and building different types of bridges that could withstand a specific weight (5kg). So we were put into groups and given research sheets, then we found computers and started researching the different types of bridges (beam, suspension, arch, tied-arch and cantaloupe).
