P4-7
Last week we had our IDL week on electricity and energy. It was great fun. We started off working with circuits and learning about how they work. We then went on to learning about energy in our homes. We had to recognise things that used mains electricity or were battery powered.
After that we went onto Energy Town which was all about learning about Substations and how electricity is transferred to homes, shops and offices. We made warning posters and information posters and at the end of the week we created our own board games that had to include a working circuit. It was good fun but challenging!

During our IDL focus week we looked at objects around us that are powered by electricity, the dangers of electricity, simple circuits and where electricity comes from.
The best part of the week was making our very own circuits using lightbulbs, buzzers and motors. We had great fun making them work! Later in the week, our skills were put to the test when we had to use simple circuits to make a clowns nose light up and the bow tie spin round. It was tricky but we all managed to get the nose working!
We also looked at renewable energy sources and created models to show where we can get electricity from. The sources we chose were solar power, wind power and hydro-electric power.
