We received this e-mail from the Shelduck crew – sounds like they are having a fabulous holiday (with lots of weather)!

“On our cruise North to Isle of Islay we sighted fins in the sea off The Mull of Galloway, it was flat calm so we shut down the engines and drifted onto them.

The fish was approx’ 2 -3 mtrs length and we were able to drift to within 3 – 4 mtrs from it.

You can see from the photograph the very unusual dorsal fin, when it noticed us and turned we were able to identify it by the sword snout.

Apparently there are under 10 sightings of the elusive swordfish within the last 10 years in UK waters, so a rare privilege.”
