A big thank you to David Buoy who went to the Digital Scotland meeting today at the Local SNP Office and got an update on when Glencaple is going to be connected to the Superfast Broadband…

“I was told that hopefully the exchange will be connected to the fibre optic network by the end of this year/early next year. Then you have to apply for a connection to your individual properties. Each home will then be connected to the network.
It’s not fibre optic to the properties, they will use the existing phone lines. The expected speed will be up to 60mb. If you live further than 3/4 of a mile from the exchange the speed will reduce.
BT could not give a date but expected it to be within a year of connection. We live in hope. Don’t hold your breath as you’ll probably die before you get connected.”

We live in hope that we will see it happen! Much appreciated David, as we couldn’t get there today.

*Edit to add: The exchange is opposite the School and we’ve been told that the broadband box is outside Barbour Hall.
