With the wet and stormy weather we have seen so far in 2016, Nith Inshore Rescue has been on high alert and ready to respond quickly to any calls for assistance.
The Coastguard recently asked us to be present in Dumfries during the Big Burns Supper Carnival and fireworks display with our small boat ‘Cauley’. Thankfully everything went off without a hitch, and a great time was had by all.
Our involvement in a coordinated search of the River Eden for a missing person ended with an individual being found, but a sad result.
Crew were also on stand-by during the night of the 28th Jan. HM Coastguard and other emergency services were concerned about the effect of the wind on the tide at 3am, so crew were ready to respond if needed. A big thanks to the crew who volunteered to stay up through the night.
Fundraising for the much needed extension to the boathouse in Glencaple is still ongoing, with work hopefully due to begin this year.
