Many thanks to Councillor Elaine Murray who has asked for our input on naming the new road associated with the new housing development off Shore Road in Glencaple. If we can come up with a few ideas, we will pass them on to the application consultation committee.
They have suggested that the proposed name should relate to the existing surroundings (i.e. Glencaple / River Nith, Shore Road, etc.) or something of significant/historic importance to the site area.
You can let us know your proposals by emailing caerlaverockcommunity@gmail.com, by commenting below this website post, or through our Facebook page.

Auld Quay Road. Thus incorporating the name which villagers called Glencaple back in its early days and use of the Scots language which so many locals still speak. A dual cultural commemoration for what was once part of the thriving Port of Dumfries but still very much its own community.
