MORE HAVE ARRIVED BACK ‘HOME’!

A couple more are here, looking swish in the sunshine! All the olde mushy wood bits have been replaced too…

If you’ve had a wee wander round the Quay End in Glencaple recently, you may have noticed some brand new benches and tables! Actually, you’d be wrong if you did, because these are the old ones all sorted up for another summer season (and to endure the elements until then)!

Thanks to a tip from a neighbour, we sent in a request to the Dumfries Community Payback team (see more info here) to apply for the benches and tables to be taken away and sorted up.

As you can see, old wood has been replaced, repairs have been made, and the benches treated all over to a fine finish! A couple of benches are still being worked on, and the stone bench at the end will be spruced up too. Lastly, Ian Hamilton’s bench will receive a bit of TLC.

The cost to Caerlaverock Community Association is minimal, the only charge is for additional materials required to refurbish the benches.

All work is undertaken by people in the Community Payback scheme and we can see what a great job they have done. Thank you to everybody involved in improving our tables and benches! A really good job, done well!

And we have been told that when they need a bit of attention in a couple of years, they will be happy to help us out again then too.

We hope these benches will be used again by locals and visitors alike, with the sun coming out more days than not recently, time to have a wee picnic in the sunshine with one of the best views around?

If you have something that the Community Payback Team might be able to help you with, why not get in touch – there’s a list of included work which can be found on this link, there may be other things they cab help with too.  Download the application form here.

Many thanks again – a professional finish, the work is superb!
