To let you know that there are several trees down blocking roads in Caerlaverock, these have been reported to the police/ DGVOST/ Council who are aware.

There is a tree down and blocking the road at Bankend at the bus stop. And a tree blocking the Glencaple road at Conheath, thanks to Lesley Grieve and Sally Armitage for letting us know.

Jacyln Irving writes ‘Tree at bus stop Bankend is on a power line. Sitting waiting to report it to Scottish power. The incredible Robbie, Joe and Laurie are out clearing what they can because it looks like the Glencaple and Bankend road have trees down. I managed to clear 4 on my way home but the bus stop one beat me!’. Lesley Grieve has contacted Scottish Power.

It goes without saying that your priority is to keep yourself safe. This has been declared as a ‘major incident’.  School pupils will be kept at school until someone has collected them, for their safety. The region as a whole has seen significant disruption due to the high winds.

The police are ‘advising people to delay or postpone their travel plans at this time while the high winds batter the region’. Thanks to everyone involved in clearing up and making the roads passable again.

Please keep an eye on the DGVOST Facebook page, and Dumfries and Galloway Police Division via there social media, as we may not be able to keep this page updated as promptly.
