Thanks to Gail Stewart who sent us this great story and fantastic photos – there’s something a little ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ about it all!

Jamie from Glencaple House is wondering if he has the biggest sunflowers in Glencaple (or maybe Dumfries)!

The pupils at Caerlaverock Primary planted sunflowers seeds and, before the summer break, were given the challenge to take the couple of centimetre high seedlings home and try to grow them. Jamie has certainly risen to that challenge! They were last measured a few weeks ago -standing at 4.10 metres (over 13 feet).

Has anyone managed to grow a bigger sunflower this year?
