It sounds like it’s going to be really interesting, and a fantastic opportunity to tell the project as much local info, all the place names and stories you know as well as learning all about our wonderful area!
If this stuff isn’t recorded, it’ll be lost for future generations…

Join us for an adventure to uncover the coastal place names around the mouth of the Nith, in Caerlaverock Parish that can be seen from Wardlaw Hill on Sunday 21st May.
What did the names mean and where do they come from?
We will be looking for your help to tell us place names that are known to local people but might not be on the maps and imagine the stories behind them. Our adventure will involve meeting to look at maps at the Barbour Hall in Glencaple at 12.00 noon and we will be leading a walk up to Wardlaw hill where we will explore some new and old maps and lookout over the land thinking about all the places, names and the stories connected with them.
Please come along to the Barbour Hall and tell us what you know! If you would like a walk in a beautiful place please come along to our outdoor workshop too!
